HELPIFIC praises Vunki Mano
hackaton in Võrumaa
First COSIE hackathon, held on the first weekend of October, was a great
success! Even so that on Sunday, the
last day of the hackathon, all participants were both exhausted, yet extremely
happy and one could even say that positively surprised!
We in the Helpific´s team would like to thank everybody who took part in
putting this event together!
We would also like to thank the wonderful cooks on Vastseliina School, who
filled the stomachs of the hard-working people with tasty food twice a day!
Also an honorable mention to Vana-Võromaa Vegan Cafe, that offered all sorts of
delicious snacks – vegan cheese sandwiches, all sorts of sweets etc and verdant
fresh mint tea.

In the first hackathon in Vastseliina School we had 80 participants and ten
highly motivated teams were put together.

This time Helpific had three of our team representing us: Lauri Tikk, Mert
Neşvat and Zsolt Bugarszki. Mert, our IT-support had also his good friend
Gökhan Polat with him, who is also with IT-background and was a great help
during the hackathon with his input.
Our guys were divided into two teams:
Lauri joined the NGO Meiela team, which consisted of a team of 10 people
from different areas of work and together a potential project called TÜÜWÄRK
was worked out to find simple jobs for people with special needs a bit easier. Also
possibly to help them to find a bit more stable jobs on a platform that is
created especially to find a solution to the growing issue of unemployment
among the people with special needs in Võrumaa.

Mert and Zsolt joined a team with a bit different idea – Ökoküla, whose
idea is to create an environment-friendly and efficient ecovillage in Võrumaa. Ökoküla
project was called Wabaveere.

Although these projects seem
to be very different from each other, both have a similar aim which also was
the reason our Helpific team members decided to join them. Both TÜÜWÄRK and
Wabaveere try to find ways how to create active and independent community using
innovative ways to accomplish that. It´s exactly what we do here in Helpific!
The co-operation with these
two teams has just begun but we are extremely happy that Helpific can be a part
of such great future-oriented projects.
But now – vunki mano!

My name is Katrily, and I am the newest proud member of Helpific´s Estonian team.
One thing that surely describes me most accurately, is that I cannot stand still. I need movement in life, and am a relentless opponent of the status quo. There is always something new to be discovered or something old to be improved. And there is nothing I am more annoyed by than wasted potential.
If I would have to add five more things about me they would be the following: I enjoy to read, I run for fun, love early mornings during winter, fiercely hate injustice and have the most wonderful human as my daughter.
I am studying for a Master´s degree in Administration and Government in Tallinn University and hope to become a valuable member in Helpific community.

НОВОСТИ И ДЕЛА ХЕЛПИФИКА
Хелпифик - это веб-команда поддержки, что привносит в социальный сектор обновлённые и более удобные дигитальные решения. Через посредничество Хелпифика активные сообщества могут принять участие в помощи по соседству живущим людям, оказывая им транспортные услуги, помощь по хозяйству и вне дома по необходимым делам.
2017 год стал для Helpific успешным по многим направлениям:
- Мы успешно завершили проект “Развитие позитивного отношения", целью которого было изменить отношение к расстройствам психического здоровья и популяризировать трудоустройство молодежи с проблемами психического здоровья;
- В рамках проекта “Развитие онлайн-платформы поддержки на основе опыта пользователя” фонда “Целевой капитал гражданского общества” нынешний сайт был доработан и сделан более доступным, безопасным и функциональным, что будет хорошей основой для дальнейших технологических разработок в 2018 году;
- В проекте платформы совместного финансирования Hooandja “Самому жить - самому и отвечать” мы превысили поставленную цель и нас поддержали пожертвованиями 577 человек;
- Портал “Гений” выбрал Helpific стартапом недели, и с декабря 2017 года Helpific участвует в инновационной научной и исследовательской программе под названием CoSIE – Совместное создание инноваций в сфере услуг, где вклад Эстонии в программу в размере 386 066 евро финансируется Европейским Союзом в рамках программы Horizon2020;
- Еще одна положительная новость заключается в том, что Helpific получил средства от американского фонда “Институт открытого общества – инициатива по психическому здоровью” (США) – 44 950 долларов для пилотного проекта в Хорватии и 44 150 долларов для пилотного проекта в Румынии. Пилотные проекты направлены на тестирование платформы Helpific в международной среде и разработку новых функций платформы, которые поддерживают работу специалистов и лидеров сообщества.

Helpific has affiliated with eight countries - how are they doing?
According to Zsolt Bugarszki, Director of International Operations: “Helpific has teams in eight countries, all in very different stages and at different levels of activities. Matchmaking has occurred in 5 countries (Estonia, Hungary, Ukraine, Croatia and US). In the Netherlands a University is working on the adaptation of the concept in the UK, after the first unsuccessful attempt with the disability/mental health target group, we are preparing a more general approach and in Finland we are still seeking for the right format and more human resources, but we are present.”

Peter is a middle-aged Hungarian guy with steel work and IT background. He’s a practical man who likes community involvement – he managed community radio and telehouse projects in Hungary for 7 years: Green Radio and started up community gardening projects in London within the past year: TABARD GROWERS and Stompie Garden
For the past 6 years he’s been living in London. He has a Latvian partner and a 10-year-old stepson. He also has a 10 year-old daughter back in Hungary.
His favourite quotes are ‘’Every day is a bonus’’ and ‘’Gutta cavat lapidem’' (‘’a water drop hollows a stone’’). Peter’s favourite movies are Pay It Forward, 7 Pounds and The Contact.

The crowdfunding participants helped Helpific take off!
Do you remember the video in which Tom Rüütel, one of the co-founders of Helpific talked about his dream of becoming an astronaut and called upon investing in Helpific? The project "Live by yourself, be responsible by yourself!’’ turned out to be vastly successful – 577 people invested in the project and all in all 10 835 euros was raised.
On the project’s webpage all eight videos can still be watched and one can read about the outcome of the project as well as where the investments go.

Service innovation in Võrumaa, Estonia
As a part of an international consortium that consists of 24 different European Universities, NGOs and service providers, Helpific will have an opportunity to participate in an innovative research and development program called CoSIE – Co-creation of Service Innovations in Europe.
Tallinn University, Võrumaa Omavalitsuste Liit, and Helpific will co-operate over the next three years to pilot an innovative method for service development in the field of disability care and mental health in Vorumaa county, Estonia.
The European Union’s Horizon2020 program finances the Estonian part of the program with €386,066.
The summer has brought many positive surprises for Helpific
The summer has been an extraordinarily great time for the Helpific platform. We have received a lot of good news both from our home country, as well as from abroad. The campaign carried out in the Hooandja was very successful and soon we will start pilot projects in Croatia and Romania so that the community members would notice and support each other more.

Right now I’m feeling happy and I can honestly say that it’s been a while since I last felt like it. Negative thoughts went on a holiday as soon as the sun started warming my cheeks and this really makes me feel good. I feel like whatever worries life throws at you, everything will work out eventually and then you realise that even crappy things happen for a reason. Loving life at this moment :)

At the moment I feel tired from yesterday’s Rammstein concert. Life has shown me, that all the tiring and difficult activities are in reality the most emotional and the best ones. Be it a concert, engaging with something where I need to step out of my comfort zone or for example an evening with my friends. There are no impossible opportunities, there are only opportunities! You will never know until you have not tried!

На протяжении 29 лет своей жизни Тарво Тобби нуждался в помощи семьи, родственников и хороших знакомых. Запоминающимся фактором при получении помощи у оказывающих её людей была искренность, которая выражалась в чистом желании протянуть руку помощи. Пусть это была бабушка, которая на месяцы отпросилась с работы, чтобы помочь Тарво снова научиться ходить после перенесённого менингита, или сосед, который в Рождественский семейный день привёз Тарво, четыре месяца находившегося в больнице, и его бабушку домой. Всё это произвело на Тарво огромное впечатление: что значит искренняя помощь, при которой отсутствует задняя мысль и желание что.либо получить взамен.
Тарво решил посвятить 7-е апреля, день своего тридцатилетия, человеку, который нуждается в руке помощи в повседневной жизни и её организации. |
A birthday should be a time for giving, not for receiving

During the 29 years of his life, Tarvo Tobbi has needed help from his family and relatives as well as from close acquaintances. The most memorable factor among this help has been the sincerity of the helpers, which has been expressed by a pure wish to lend a helping hand. Whether a grandmother who took time off work for months to help Tarvo learn to walk after meningitis for the second time in his life, or a neighbour who despite having his own family, drove Tarvo and his grandmother home on a Christmas Eve after Tarvo had spent four months in the hospital. All this has left a deep impression on him about what sincere help, which has no implication nor wish to get something in return, means.
When Tarvo turned 30, he decided to dedicate the 7th of April to a person who needed a helping hand in their everyday activities and in managing their life. |

The word that describes me the best is „mother“. Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to become a mother. It was my dream, my passion, my longing… I have three kids now and motherhood is still my passion. Everything I do, I do for my kids and being able to do that makes me the happiest woman on earth. When asked to describe myself, I would say, that I am caring, helpful and aware of others around me. Multitasking is my middle name. Staying fit is my hobby: when unhappy, I go for a run. I despise violence in all forms, especially towards kids and animals.

to Statistics Estonia, in the beginning of this year there lived ca
146 343 disabled persons in Estonia, for example 39 020 of them live
in Harju County, 8 633 in Pärnu County and 22 088 in Tartu County.
According to the social research about the managing of disabled people of
Tallinn (Saar Poll OÜ, 2016), people need additional help due to their
disability for example in activities such as shopping - 63% of the cases, and navigating outdoors -
46% of the cases.
